Recommendations:
We strongly urge you to bring the following items
- Towels for each family member. These can be checked out of the Club Med towel locker but be sure to return them
- Dry clothes ..Shower facilities are available and we recommend changing into dry clothes before departing for Club Med.
- Hats for each family member
- Sunscreen.. Be sure to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before entering water or it will wash off. Florida's sun is very strong and a little sun goes a long way. Remember it is hours after exposure before the real effects of the sun are felt. This is extremely important for children and infants. We recommend a waterproof sunscreen with an an SPF of 40 or above.
- Sunglasses
- A pair of sandals, flip flops or sneakers for each family member
Snorkeling is a great activity suitable for almost any age. We have taken children as young as 2 years old and they love it.
You virtually float with very little effort making it easy for the young and young at heart. Our guide remains in the water as long as there is a guest wanting to snorkel.

Once you are out of the water there is still plenty to do and see at JD MacArthur Park
- Go Shopping... Remember your visit to the park by visiting the Park Gift Shop located in the Nature Center. Here you will find merchandise such as travel coffee cups, postcards, T-shirts, sweatshirts, plant and animal books, toys and jewelry, as well as many other educational and fun items.
- Walk with Nature.. Travel back in time to the "Real Florida" and experience the peace and beauty of southeast Florida's subtropical flora. The park has two nature trails, allowing visitors a chance to walk among stately trees, flowering shrubs and thick beds of ferns.
- The Satinleaf Trail.. At a time when South Florid's natural coastal areas are almost nonexistent, John D. MacArthur Beach State Park stands out as one of the finest examples of subtropical coastal habitat remaining in southeast Florida.
- The Dune Hammock Trail.. The Dune Hammock Trail leads visitors across the estuary bridge and along the west side of the dune.
Park Information
The only state park in Palm Beach County is an "island in time" preserving the lush and diverse subtropical coastal habitats that once covered southeast Florida.
Exploring nearly two miles of pristine beach and swimming in the clear blue waters of the Atlantic is only the beginning of the fun you can have at the Park. Strolling shaded nature trails, joining a bird or butterfly walk and touring the estuary and Munyon Island by kayak (self-guided or ranger-led) affords visitors a true understanding of "the Real Florida". You might happen onto one of the many special events offerred in the park throughout the year: children's programs, guided snorkeling adventures, recreational skills lessons, MacArthur Under Moonlight concerts, summer day camps, and special holiday celebrations to name just a few
John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, nestled on a barrier island, encompasses 325 acres, which includs mangrove fringed estuary, coastal hardwood forests, nearly two miles of beach and shallow near shore reefs
Open daily, the Nature Center offers displays and live animals to enhance your knowledge of the park along with a video and friendly park staff and volunteers to answer your every question. Don't forget to shop in the Nature Center for just the right souvenier, or sunscreen and a beach towel, before you ride the tram back across the estuary to the beach
The park's 4,000 square-foot William T. Kirby Nature Center contains aquariums, displays and a video interpreting the barrier island's plant and animal communities. Programs are given to adult and school groups, as well as the general public, on a broad range of natural history subjects.
